What is
Run for Parkinson's
This initiative isn't about hosting one large event at a single location.
Instead, multiple events will be organized simultaneously in various locations.
The goal is to arrange as many events as possible in different suitable venues.
A global network of events will encourage broader participation, making it easier for people to join in.
By combining local efforts, we can reach the highest number of participants, increase awareness of Parkinson's disease, and boost media coverage.
This will be a unique event that is quickly becoming a key activity during the international Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month each year.
How can you
Participate
The run or walk will take place on a pre-measured circuit to determine its length.
Depending on your location, climate, and available logistics, the circuit may be outdoors or indoors.
There will be different circuits available for various participants (walking, running, roller skating, biking, etc.).
Each participant should complete at least one lap of the circuit.
For those who need assistance completing the lap, volunteers will be stationed along the course to help or finish the lap on their behalf.
If you're up for it, feel free to run multiple laps—GO AHEAD! RUN 4 PD!
One, 1,000, 100,000: Run for Parkinson's.
A picture can say a thousand words.
Now, picture a thousand people running for Parkinson’s across over a hundred cities worldwide.
One hundred thousand runners, a hundred thousand faces, and a hundred thousand hearts all coming together to support those with Parkinson's, making this the largest global event in their honor.
Just as a thousand-mile journey starts with a single step, a solidarity race with one thousand participants is made possible by each individual’s involvement—beginning with yours.
From January to April, the celebration of races will unfold, and we'll keep these pages updated with details on participating cities, dates, and how to sign up.
Join in and spread the word. Remember, a thousand words can't leave as lasting an impact as a single act of kindness.
Take the leap—it's your turn. Make the first move.
Ways to run
Official Race Teams
The Parkinson’s Foundation is an official charity partner for some of the most well-known race events globally. Through this partnership, we are able to purchase a limited number of bibs/entries, which we offer to our athletes at little or no cost, in exchange for their commitment to fundraise for the Foundation. Along the way, athletes enjoy fun perks and benefits like swag, training support, celebration events, and more. However, please note that the Parkinson’s Foundation is not involved in organizing the race events themselves.
VIP Program
For athletes looking to elevate their race experience, we’re offering an exclusive VIP Program for many of our Official Race Teams. By committing to a higher fundraising goal, you can unlock a range of extra benefits in addition to the standard perks, including:
- Bypass the waitlist for immediate entry to your chosen race
- A special-edition Parkinson’s Champions Finisher Medal
- FuelGoods Gift Card
- An extra RunnerBox Supply Pack
- A Champions Swag Store Gift Certificate
Honorary Athletes
Have you already purchased your own bib/entry for any of the races where we have a team? As an Honorary Athlete, you won’t need to use one of our limited team bibs/entries. You’ll receive all the same benefits as official team members, but with a lower fundraising minimum of just $500.
Champions Global Races
The Parkinson’s Champions are now global! Thanks to our partnership with RealBuzz, you can participate in races worldwide as a Parkinson’s Champions Athlete. Simply visit our RealBuzz Landing Page to view the current list of races and sign up directly. Please note that international Abbott World Majors races have a separate application process.
Run Your Own Race
With our Run Your Own Race program, athletes can participate in ANY fitness event, anywhere in the world. Athletes purchase their own bib/entry to the race, set their own fundraising target, and compete as a Parkinson’s Champion on race day. Runners who raise over $500 will be eligible to receive a special running shirt for race day.
